About Jotlily

Where lilies find each other

A peer support community built on the belief that no one should face their mental health journey alone.

Our Story

Born from lived experience

My name is Sanni, and I've struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember. For years I carried the weight of my experiences quietly, without the support I so desperately needed.

It wasn't until spring 2023 that I finally found the right psychotherapist and began getting the help I had needed all along. As I slowly started to heal, something shifted in me. I knew firsthand the isolation, the fear, the feeling that no one could possibly understand — and I knew that had to change for others.

In the early summer of 2024 I began reaching out to strangers I saw struggling on social media, simply letting them know they weren't alone. What started as quiet individual messages grew into something far more beautiful — a small but mighty community of people holding each other up through life's darkest and brightest moments.

That community became Jotlily.

Going through so much alone had taught me something invaluable — and painful. I knew that no one should ever have to go through what I did.

Why "Jotlily"?

A name that holds meaning

Every word in our name was chosen with intention. It connects who I am with what this community is about — words, beauty, resilience, and the courage to reach out.

🌸 Lilies bloom after hardship ✍️ Words that connect 🤝 You are not alone

The verb

Jot

To write — symbolising connection through words. To reach out, to share, to be heard. It also allows anyone to stay anonymous if they choose.

The name

Lily

Sanni means 'lily' — a flower that endures hardship and still blooms beautifully. Our community members are called lilies for exactly this reason.

Together

Jotlily

Read as 'jot Lily' — write to Sanni, write with each other. A community built entirely on the power of words and human connection.

Our Mission

More than support

Jotlily is first and foremost a safe space for anyone who needs someone to listen — without judgement, without conditions, without pretence.

You don't always need a professional. Sometimes it's enough to have someone who truly understands.

But our mission reaches further than individual support. We're committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and making space for conversations that are still considered taboo. We educate, we raise awareness, and we advocate — one honest conversation at a time.

Peer Support

One-on-one and group conversations with people who truly get it.

Self-Love Resources

Blog posts, guides, and tools to help you care for yourself every day.

Stigma-Breaking Conversations

Honest discussions on topics that are still too rarely spoken about.

Core Values

What we stand for

Every part of Jotlily is guided by these principles — in how we support each other, how we show up, and how we grow together.
🌸

Authenticity

We encourage genuine, honest sharing — without needing to put on a brave face or pretend everything is okay.

🤝

Understanding

We meet each other where we are, recognising that everyone's journey is unique, valid, and worthy of compassion.

🚫

No Judgement

Our community is free from criticism, shame, or unsolicited advice. We listen with open hearts and open minds.

💙

Support

We show up for each other in crisis moments and everyday struggles alike, celebrating every victory — big and small.

🌱

Growth

We believe in the power of healing and personal development, gently supporting each other toward wellness.

🔐

Trust

We create a safe container for vulnerability — protecting each other's stories and experiences always.

🎯

Accountability

We gently encourage each other to take steps toward healing, while respecting individual timelines and choices.

Our Philosophy

Peers Supporting Peers

We are all equals when it comes to mental health. No one is above another. No struggle should be compared, because we can never fully know what another person has endured.

01
Equality

No hierarchy of pain, no competition of who has it worse. Every person's experience is real and deserves to be heard.

02
Support

Practical, emotional, and human encouragement — the kind that only comes from someone who has been there.

03
Understanding

Deep empathy born from shared experience — sometimes that is the most healing thing of all.

04
Acceptance

Embracing each person exactly as they are, wherever they are on their journey.
